DIRECTOR OF UTILIZATION REVIEW

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  To proactively monitor and optimize reimbursement for organization services.
  • Participates in mandatory orientation and training activities.

  • MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.
  •  Conducts admission reviews.
  •  Conducts concurrent and extended stay reviews.
  •  Serves as the department's fiscal manager.
  • Supports the organization's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepares and submits appeals to third party payors.
  • Maintains appropriate records of the Utilization Review Department.
  • Participates in activities, which enhance professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates conduct in keeping with AURORA ethical standards.
  •  Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program. 
  •  Supports facility internal and external customer service standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT ENTRY:

 

CA Valid License a must. Clinical degree such as nursing, social work, psychology, health information management or other healthcare related field is preferred or related experience; experience in psychiatric setting  preferred; high school- preferably college, level reading, writing, and math skills; excellent telephone usage skills and strong verbal skills; knowledge of health care service delivery systems and third party reimbursement; knowledge of managed care environment; ability to apply and interpret admission and continued stay criteria; understanding of admission and discharge function; familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic terms and treatment modalities; knowledge of medical record keeping; strong interpersonal, organizational, evaluative, and time management skills; policy interpretation skills; familiarity with applicable standards and regulations; flexibility; attention to detail; able to comprehend psychiatric evaluations, consults, lab results, etc.; responsiveness to deadlines; assertiveness, persistence, and persuasiveness; able to work with minimal direction or supervision.  2 years of management experience preferred.

CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELOR Full Time/Non-Exempt)

Position Summary: To provide quality direct and indirect patient care to individuals with chemical dependency or other diagnosed issues.

Essential Duties:

 

 ·         Assesses patients' stage and extent of chemical use and comorbid mental health issues.

·         Develops and implements a plan of treatment, in conjunction with members of multi-disciplinary team.

·         Conducts didactic and other appropriate patient groups for both chemical dependency and duel diagnosed issues.

·         Communicates with referral sources and other appropriate parties regarding patients' progress.

·         Coordinates and implements patients' discharge.

·         Attends and participates in department and other program or clinical and administrative meetings.

·         Supports maintenance and development of clinical program or services.

·         Provides backup services to Needs Assessment and Referral Dept.

·         Participates in activities, which enhance professional growth and development.

Qualifications: Masters degree in related field preferably mental health. CADAC certification required. Two years of experience working with adults and adolescents with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. MFT, SW, RN license preferred. Two years significant experience in a similar work environment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds.

SUPERVISES: N/A

NURSING SUPERVISOR (Full Time AM & NOC shift)

   RN Nursing Supervisor, you will oversee hospital function on your assigned shift include:

  • Supervising all nursing staff on your assigned shift
  • Ensuring that staffing levels are maintained for your shift and the oncoming shift
  • Ensuring that patients are properly taken care of and all hospital policies and procedures are implemented and followed by staff.
  • Providing care to patients according to the established plan of care as needed
  • Assisting with orientation of new staff
  • Providing feedback and/or counseling to nursing staff when appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments
  • Facilitating patient admissions in a timely manner
  • Completing all record reports which include but are not limited to incident reports, quality monitoring, employee injury reports and/or employee performance reports.

    Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an approved vocational school; MUST have a current California RN license, current CPR and PRO-ACT required

COOK (Per-Diem/Non-Exempt)

Position Summary: Participate in provision of quality meals and nutritional services to patients, staff and guests.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepares meals for patients, employees, medical staff, and visitors.
  • Serves meals to all cafeteria customers.
  • Cleans work area as necessary or assigned.
  • Accepts and reconciles deliveries and puts away stock.
  • Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
  • Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.

Qualifications:

Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic; must be able to consistently meet deadlines; and finish all food preparation at specified serving time; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organization operating needs. Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions. Must be able to adjust recipes to achieve desired results. Must be able to read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products. Ability to read, convert and adjust mathematical measurements for food recipe adjustments. Must be able to use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers and dishwashers; knowledge of the essential hygiene factors involved in food preparation; knowledge of cleansing products and the appropriate methods of cleansing a variety of surfaces. Must be able to work independently, in a restricted physical environment for extended periods of time. Must have ability to perform several tasks concurrently. Must have skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.

HOUSEKEEPER

HOUSEKEEPER (Full Time/Non-Exempt)

Position Summary: To ensure the maintenance of a clean, healthy, pleasant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties: 

  • Cleans floors in patient and non-patient areas. 
  • Removes trash and waste from designated areas of facility. 
  • Removes and replaces soiled linens from designated patient areas. 
  • Maintains facility and furnishings in clean, orderly fashion. 
  • Adheres to organization's safety and security policies and procedures. 
  • Maintains documentation and records related to department operations.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB: Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position, finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately or quickly; perceive the nature of sound with no less than a 40 db loss @ 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands or fingers.

Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and occasionally medium work, that is exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
