INTAKE COUNSELOR (FT & PT/Non-Exempt)

TITLE: INTAKE COUNSELOR

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF INTAKE

Position Summary:  Several positions available in the Intake Department of a behavioral health care hospital.

 

Essential Duties: 

* Respond to routine and crisis calls coming into the Intake Department

* Assess patients for suicidality, homicidality and other dangerous propensities

* Provide DSM-5 diagnoses in consultation with the psychiatrist 

* Complete managed care authorizations for patient treatment 

* Interface with other hospital departments in arranging patient care

* Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team

* Handling of legal issues related to patient care, such as 5150 criteria, conservatorships, minors’ issues 

* Computer tasks that require use of Microsoft Work, Excel, Internet Explorer and other computer programs.

 

Qualifications: MASTER’S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIAL WORK OR RELATED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCIENCES; college level reading and comprehension, writing and mathematics skills; basic knowledge of, and skills in applying principles of, abnormal psychology and mental health problems; familiarity with psychological, sociological and medical terminologies; skills in analyzing and evaluating information; problem-solving skills; excellent oral communications; legible handwriting; ability to concentrate on tasks and meet deadlines; ability to maintain confidentiality; basic data entry and typing skills preferred.

RECEPTIONIST (Part Time & Per-Diem/Non-Exempt)

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:    To facilitate the flow of organization information; to provide a positive, responsive environment for receiving internal and external customers via telephone and face-to-face.

 

  • Participates in mandatory orientation and training activities.

Social Worker (Full Time/Non-Exempt) M-F 11am-7:30pm YOUTH UNIT

Position Summary: To provide quality case management and psychotherapeutic services to adult psychiatric patients and their families.

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members.
  • Provides group and family process-oriented therapies as well as conducts educational and other didactic groups for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.
  • Develops and coordinates an individualized discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and chart information to determine the patient's aftercare needs. 
  • Identifies and assesses family or community resources such as, group homes, or mental health practitioners to meet patients' aftercare needs.
  • Attends regular treatment team meetings to provide social work perspective to total case management of the patient by reading and discussing written progress notes from charts and communicating any state or local agency legal requirement for case management with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Reports to community/state agencies any patient issues as required and represents facility in any legal proceedings.
  • Provide backup services for incoming assessment and referral calls.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work or Marriage Family Therapy is required; experience with chemical dependency and relapse prevention preferred; written and oral communications skills, skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice. Knowledge of acute adult psychological disorders; advanced principals of abnormal psychology as specifically applied to adults; familiarly with follow-up resource services available to adults; skills in conducting marital and family group therapy; skills in maintaining information as highly confidential; ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation.

Licensure is helpful but not required.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

SHIFTS: Full Time, Part Time & Per Diem (ALL SHIFTS)

Position Summary: To provide direct patient care to geriatric, adult, adolescent, or child patients with psychiatric disorders; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu.

Essential Duties:

  • Participate in input and follow through with regard to treatment planning
  • Observe and identify patients problems, needs and strengths, and suggest treatment plan modifications
  • Provide input on, and implement patient discharge plans
  • Accompany and transport patients as assigned
  • Facilitate patient community meetings
  • Maintain patient, and unit related documentation

ACTIVITY THERAPIST (Adjunctive Therapist) Per-Diem/Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

To serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, to provide therapeutic recreational and activity services to adult, adolescent, or child patients with emotional or substance abuse problems.  

 Essential Duties:

  • Develops and implements activity therapy plans
  • Maintains the clinical and administrative documentation for services rendered
  • Participates in the effective allocation of department resources
  • Requests supplies and equipment required for assigned activities
  • Provides individual instruction for clients as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of one or more therapeutic activity area such as recreation/occupational/music/art therapy; individual and group behavior and effective ways of working with clients; Intermediate knowledge of the general nature of physical or mental illnesses/disabilities and/or developmental disabilities;
  • Ability to apply and adapt skills and knowledge of activity areas to planned sessions of therapeutic activities; Ability to foster interest, initiative, responsibility, and experimentation in clients and discourage inappropriate responses;
  • Ability to observe client behavior, record observations, and prepare reports; CTRS, ATR, MT-BC, drama therapy, or related disciplines preferred.

Clinical degree such as nursing, social work, psychology, health information management or other healthcare related field is preferred or related experience; experience in psychiatric setting  preferred; high school- preferably college, level reading, writing, and math skills; excellent telephone usage skills and strong verbal skills; knowledge of health care service delivery systems and third party reimbursement; knowledge of managed care environment; ability to apply and interpret admission and continued stay criteria; understanding of admission and discharge function; familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic terms and treatment modalities; knowledge of medical record keeping; strong interpersonal, organizational, evaluative, and time management skills; policy interpretation skills; familiarity with applicable standards and regulations; flexibility; attention to detail; able to comprehend psychiatric evaluations, consults, lab results, etc.; responsiveness to deadlines; assertiveness, persistence, and persuasiveness; able to work with minimal direction or supervision.  2 years of management experience preferred

NURSING SUPERVISOR (Full Time AM & NOC shift)

   RN Nursing Supervisor, you will oversee hospital function on your assigned shift include:

  • Supervising all nursing staff on your assigned shift
  • Ensuring that staffing levels are maintained for your shift and the oncoming shift
  • Ensuring that patients are properly taken care of and all hospital policies and procedures are implemented and followed by staff.
