What is an assessment?
At Aurora San Diego Hospital our goal during the assessment process is for you to feel comfortable and informed. During the assessment, a Mental Health Professional will ask you about the issues you are currently having as well as questions about your past medical and psychiatric history. If applicable, any substance use/abuse issues will be addressed as well. An assessment allows us to evaluate how you are doing emotionally and physically so that we may identify programs and services which best meet your current needs. Feel free to bring a family member or friend, as this may be helpful for support and to aid you, as needed during the assessment process.
This assessment is NOT a psychiatric evaluation, it is to determine the level of care you currently need. Once the assessment is complete, our staff will discuss the results with you to make a determination about what treatment program services you currently need.
